Furlongs Travel arranges tailor-made escorted tours for the discerning traveller. Our tour programme varies from year to year but often features a mix of European and Worldwide destinations. Recent and upcoming tours include Antarctica, Costa Rica, Galápagos, Namibia, Norway, Russia and China.
Each holiday is planned in great detail. One of our proprietors, Richard or Dawn Furlong, undertakes a recce to inspect accommodations, meet potential suppliers first hand and take advice from local guides and experts. Following this first-hand research we design a quality itinerary featuring the better accommodations and incorporating meals, flights, and a comprehensive sightseeing and excursion programme.
We prefer to contract our suppliers direct. Most tour operators use local agents but dealing direct gives us a unique control over day-to-day tour operations and allows us to provide a particularly high level of care and attention, together with exceptional value for money.
Uniquely, each Furlongs holiday is personally escorted by Richard and Dawn. They plan meticulously and organise discreetly, so you enjoy your holiday free of any day-to-day niggles. And they make sure you are well looked after and have a good time. There are always a few nice surprises, wine or your choice of soft drink with some meals, good humour and good company. We also cover all gratuities so you don't need to worry about tipping at any stage.
Richard and Dawn started the business in 1982 and passionately enjoy hosting their tours. They have been ABTA members for 29 years and have their own ATOL licence. Over 90% of guests have travelled with us more than once, with many choosing a Furlongs tour on ten or more occasions. The vast majority of our business is repeat or recommendation.
